He and his wife, Wendy, are both entrepreneurs. Dana is an architect, and his wife runs her own business, selling items online and in her storefront. Since they both work for themselves, it's no surprise that they see the value in utilizing solar panels for energy independence. Originally learning about solar in the 1990s, Ferris always had his eye on the product but wanted the technology to advance further before taking the leap himself. After thoroughly researching solar panels in this year, Ferris felt it was time to move forward. Ferris laughed as he explained that before solar, his electric bill would be up to $300 a month during the summer, when his air conditioner would be running. As an electrician who has installed plenty of utility scale solar, he has seen what high winds, particularly tornadoes, can do to panels. Yet as he documented to friends and relatives on Facebook Live how he was holding up throughout the storm, he continually saw that his panels were always in their rightful place.
